The M4 Sherman Medium Tank was undoubtedly the most widely used and used armored vehicle during World War II. The M4 formed the backbone of the American armoured forces and has been produced in numerous versions and variations. The Sherman "Wet" was developed during the tank deployment period to reduce the risk of fire in battle. Previous production versions were particularly vulnerable to fire. The variant, introduced since 1944, used newly designed and strategically placed fuel tanks to minimize the risk of explosions and fires. The solution consisted of fuel tanks immersed in a solution of propylene glycol, hence the name "wet". This modification proved effective and crews appreciated maximum reliability and survival in combat. The M4 Sherman Wet has been widely used in the European theater of war in the late stages of the war.
